Intuitive Goal Setting
Tuesday, January 3, 2023
Show Notes:
Practicing intuitive goal setting:
Take a look at my current schedule - Ask, "can my current schedule take me and my family where we need to go?"
Adjustment as needed - Take a look at your schedule and see how many hours you have available during the day. Match those hours with the projects you want to accomplish this year.
Keep what is working - Some things in your schedule may be working. For me, menu planning and food prepping are really working and giving me the results I need. Having free time to visit neighbors is currently working as well.
Write goals - this is the last step!
Be sure to share your goals with family or someone who can account for your ability to achieve these goals.
• Don't forget: my book "Journey to Bravery" is available on Kindle.
Learning from the Holiday Season
Saturday, October 8, 2022
Reflective Questions:
What did you create or made happen this year?
What brought you the most satisfaction?
What was money well spent and when did you waste money?
What was the best use of your time and energy?
What was a real success for you and why? What did you learn from that?
What didn't work out as you hoped? Why? What did you learn from that?
What or who was a challenge? Why? What did you learn from that?
What was the single most important thing you did for your physical health?
If you could sum up the year in a single word, what would it be?

Friday, June 24, 2022
Bad weeks happen to good people. We don’t get to be defined by a bad week. Listen to this episode with helpful tips on how to navigate difficult weeks.
1 • Rejection comes to visit but it doesn’t have to stay. We don’t have to set a table and have coffee or tea with rejection. We can simply greet it and close the door again. Rejection is an unwelcome visitor. You can recognize the visit yet, we can also send the rejection back out. Rejection is not permanent. It does not have to stay. Self-compassion gets to stay. Encouragement needs to stay.
2 • Bad weeks happen to good people. We don’t get to be defined by a bad week. Our definition is deeper than the outside circumstances that came our way. It is helpful to ask: how does God see me? You will find encouragement as you answer this important question.
3 • If we don’t learn to navigate stress, stress will navigate us. Storms of life pass. We can’t control them but we get to control ourselves. How we choose to control ourselves is up to us. We are unique individuals. It is wise to find out what is uniquely effective and healthy during times of storm. Be wise in how you choose to nurture your mind and body during stressful times.
4 • Measuring my words has become increasingly important. I see more than I choose to say. I speak less because in an abundance of words a lack of wisdom is shown. Some words are meant to be said. These are often words of encouragement and prayers. Some words are not meant to be said. The wise person knows the difference between these two.
5 • Practicing gratitude instead of complaining is possible. It takes recognition followed by repentance, followed by reading (the Bible), followed by remembering to go through this process again. I’ve been writing about this process for the past year. God can truly transform us from complainers to grateful people.
6 • Preparation beats desperation. Taking the time to unglue our eyes and ears from needless stimuli gives us the freedom to prepare.
7 • God is doing a new thing.

Grace for the busy week
Tuesday, April 12, 2022
The problem with being busy is that your top 3 priorities can easily turn into top 5. Then, there's a list of groceries, cleaning tasks, home repairs, kids' needs, and on and on.
I'm learning to own the fact that life is full of things to do. If I denied it I would not be truthful. I'm learning not to be overwhelmed with the number of tasks each week presents me.
I'm learning to write my vision for the week. Even when I decide to assign all my tasks to one day, I give myself several days to accomplish them.
Even the things that seem "impossible" to get done make it to the list. I am reminding myself that God has all power. He can give me favor to accomplish things that are beyond my ability.
There's grace for your busy week. Here are a few guidelines to get it all done this week:
• See ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. God has to be our top priority. Without connecting with Him, life does not make much sense. We want to connect with God first not because a pastor told us to because we want and need God in our lives. He has all the grace, peace and wisdom we need to accomplish what He is calling us to do. This could be a whole message but I prefer to start with God because He can give us discernment. Discernment allows us to keep things on our list, delay or remove things from our list. Only God can give us wisdom in this area and we need wisdom.
• Remember the long-term effect of today's actions. I heard that we overestimate how much we can accomplish in one day while underestimating how much we can accomplish in one year. Today's actions have a long-term effect. A 45-minute decluttering session does not seem like much at first sight but each time you choose to declutter that room has a long-term effect. Drinking more water today might not get your summer body instantly but the long-term effects of hydration in the body are undeniable.
• Ask yourself: is it urgent, important, is it necessary? These questions can offer a way of discerning what makes it to the top of your priority list. I have a task I need to accomplish for my kids' school today. It is not urgent but it is important and it is necessary. I am putting that task at the top of my to-do list. There are other things on my list that are not urgent or important but are necessary. These go at the bottom of my list. Questions bring discernment.
I hope these few thoughts can help you have an incredibly productive and effective week.

How to learn from your life
Friday, February 4, 2022
Life offers endless opportunities to learn. Here are a few simple steps!
Listen here:
1. Start with Gratitude. Go to Episode 1 of season 5 for a deep dive. I believe that if you need wisdom, you need to make peace with gratitude.
2. Look where you came from - compare where you were 4 weeks, 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks ago. I can see improvement in my stress level. What did you do differently?
3. Look for 3 positive actions. Looking for the good might be a new idea for some of us. It is not about being prideful but it is about celebrating good choices. What gets celebrated gets repeated.
4. Look for 3 areas of improvement. The goal is to improve, not to condemn. I learned that my mindset needs improvement. So when it comes to fitness, I learned that I was not giving all that I could give. I looked at my goal and decided to have a positive mindset when I got to the gym. I also learned that I was making excuses for success. I asked myself, “why?” I looked back over my life. I noticed a pattern. I decided to journal about that topic. I basically wrote 3 paragraphs. They clarified my mind and I made a decision to improve in that area.
Okay, the ball is on your court. How will you learn from your life?
