Sunday Seven
- I am currently going through a No Complaint Challenge. I'm learning that I do not have to say everything that goes through my mind. I am learning I can be kind to those who choose not to do the same. I am amazed at how much better I feel when I focus on giving God thanksgiving for all He is doing in my life. If you want to join me or simply listen to daily reflections on the topic, please subscribe to my podcast.
- God is close to the brokenhearted and so are we. God uses people to represent Him on earth. We can touch, listen, offer encouragement, and simply commit to praying. Sometimes you know who is brokenhearted. Other times you do not. I know for a fact that sometimes God whispers their name to me in the form of a thought. I think about a person. I pray for them and I reach out. I invite you not to miss the whispers of God this week. Someone may desperately need the action you take towards their aching heart.
- Some people thrive in environments where opinions differ. They listen to others. They know how to engage in conversation. They are committed to the period between elections because that's when real life happens. One's ballot preference does not determine Christian friendship and fellowship. Christ is the solid foundation of a life that requires unconditional love.
- Having enough humility to bless those who dislike us is possible. There is no better antidote to rage and revenge than submission to the way of Christ. The way of Christ dares me to pray for my enemies. I am in the company of Christians who do not stop at prayer but they give them gifts and do nice things for them. I reached a point where I refused to allow the environment to be uneasy. I will pray and I will give. As far as it is up to me, I will live peacefully.
- I spend much time thinking about those who want to change without changing. It was not profitable because I got mad. Then, I asked myself, what if I respect their boundaries and allow them to live their lives while I live mine? I tried this for 15 hours this weekend and I tell you what, my weekend became so pleasant. During those 15 hours, I rested, and engaged in joyful activities. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.
- There are 7 Sundays between now and the end of the year. I know for a fact that accomplishing goals requires tenacity and commitment. Tenacity because barriers abound and so do excuses. Commitment because it is the key to great accomplishments. I'm determined to make a dent in all the goals I set for myself in January.
- What is a piece of advice you gave someone recently that you need to apply to your own life? I recently told someone she should dream big. It may sound ridiculous but do it anyway and be specific about what you want to see when the dream becomes reality.
