This time, I start my WW journey in November of 2017. I am grateful that I have not gained the weight I lost. Every now and then I see people losing massive amounts of weight within a year or less.
I'm happy and amused. Yet, I try not to compare myself. My story is one of slow, steady steps towards my goal. I have practiced persistence year after year. When the pandemic started, I told myself that I was not going to gain weight. I was going to finish what I started all those years ago.
One of the things I try to do is to beat yesterday. No matter what day I had yesterday, I can work on making it better.
For example, I rested okay but I know that I can sleep one extra hour. I ate pretty well. I know that I can be faithful to eat the meals I prepared yesterday so I can have all the energy I need for the day.
I exercised. I can stay focused and consistent so I can get stronger.
I wonder what the words "beat yesterday" mean to you.
In other news, I decided to start weighing myself at the studio, in-person. I was weighing myself at home because the studio was closed. Not only are they open but if I want to be lifetime, the weight that counts is the one in the studio.
I decided to bite the bullet and start weighing in at the studio. I didn't really pay attention to the clothes I was wearing. I knew it would be a stretch anyway and it was.
I still weigh myself at home so I can see my progress. Last week, I had a pretty big loss. I think it was because the week before the studio was closed and I didn't weigh in.
The weight loss is good but better than that is the fact that I am back to normal. After I started recording my weight at the studio, I hit a low. Not only was I hurt because of the number on the scale, but I went on to purchase and eat an entire slice of chocolate-covered cheesecake. Yes, it was good.
I learned a lot:
• The next time I eat a chocolate-covered cheesecake I will eat 1/4 of it instead of the whole thing.
• When my feelings do not align with my goals, I have to follow the process that will lead to my desired goal.
• Every day is a new chance to start.
• My WW friends understand me and they can encourage me with words of wisdom.
I am unofficially 31 pounds down from when I started in November of 2017. I always wonder if I knew it would take this long, would I have embarked on this journey.
My answer is, absolutely yes. Because I'm worth every minute I spend getting healthier.
Health is a blessing I no longer want to take for granted.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
