For years I too made my resolutions and started something in the new year but always after my birthday (unless I was fasting. I tend to take them seriously). Every time I watch TV I see commercials for Nutrysistem, Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers mainly. All other diet programs are being promoted as well, it's just a season to do that.
What makes me wonder is when will it be the season to stop yo-yo dieting and start taking care of our health long term. My local gym is about to make a lot of money locking people up in a year contract and most of the members will drop-off by the end of January. What happens when we decide we are going to honor ourselves and be committed to finish what we started? We get different results than whatever we got last year.
I'm in no place to start dieting but like everyone else I can commit to only eat foods that have high nutrition. I'm in no place to train for a marathon but like everyone else I can commit to more more, even if all I can do is to walk 3 times a week.
What happens when we stick to our goals? What if they are not as ambitious this year? What if they are goals that will improve our health over time and will last for a lifetime?
I'm doing a lot of thinking and I am confident that 2010 will be a great year. Happy new year and thanks for reading Simply Cintia!
